Flour & Soul is a fabulous sourdough microbakery set up by nutritional therapist turned baker Irina Ruseva (and her partner Graham). Together they make small batch sourdough bread by hand that is delivered by bike in the M41 area in partnership with Urmston Bike Deliveries.
Born out of a passion for real food and sharing it with those around them, the business has grown organically as word has spread about Irina’s wonderful bread, special recipes and commitment to only the highest quality ingredients.
We asked Irina, what makes Flour & Soul different from everyone else?
“I am a nutritional therapist so I understand the value, importance and difference good food can make. At Flour & Soul, we only use stoneground and organic flours from wheat grown in the UK. All of our bread is left to ferment for 24 hours and our 100% rye takes three days to make. We never use any additives, improvers, raising agents or ingredients you wouldn’t recognise. We are incredibly passionate about the environment and making Urmston a better place to live and that’s why we only ever deliver our bread by bike and we support Urmston Bike Deliveries in its efforts.
It has been very exciting to see the huge demand and support we’ve received so far by everyone who has bought our bread or just sent messages of encouragement and we love being part of the community in Urmston.”
What are you currently working on?
“At the moment, we are testing some new bakes and are looking forward to launching our online shop and expanding our bread delivery service.”
What do you like most about living and working in Urmston?
“We love how friendly everyone is, how flat and easy it is to cycle everywhere, and we are very excited about the Active Neighbourhood plans.”
What are your favourite Urmston businesses? / Where do you like to eat and drink?
“We get our wine from Fred at Kelder; he always has some great recommendations. We’ve also had a couple of deliveries from Proost and love their food. For pizza you can’t beat Leonciono and Kin Bakehouse does the best coffee and cake in town!”
What are your contact details should people wish to place an order?
