With today’s feature, we welcome a relative newcomer to Urmston, Rowena Simon from @the.rare.finds.
Established just under 12 months ago, The Rare Finds is a beautiful collection of unique crystals, jewellery and home decor inspired by nature, travel and wellbeing.
We asked Rowena what she loves about her new business and living and working in Urmston.
Why did you set up in business?
“I first started setting up my business in April during lockdown. This was something I had always wanted to do but never really had the time or confidence to get it out there. In a weird way lockdown has given me that time and the drive to finally piece all my collections together and set up The Rare Finds.”
What makes you different from everyone else?
“I have carefully sourced some very unique and rare pieces that you don’t see very often when it comes to crystals. They are not just crystals they’re pieces of art and they make the most incredible interior statements in the home.”
What do you like most about living and working in Urmston?
“I just brought my first home here last year so I’m new to the area. Unfortunately we went into lockdown soon after moving in but that hasn’t stopped me from exploring the area. I love that we’re so close to nature, the meadows is my favourite (my dogs too).”
What are your favourite Urmston businesses and where do you like to eat and drink?
“In Nov I got to take part in the community pop-up market. It was great to meet the locals and also the local vendors too. I love that I can support so many independent businesses here in Urmston like @kelderwines @ixiaflowersuk @whatsthecatchurmston and @flour.and.soul.bakery.”
What are your contact details should people wish to get in touch?
“You can find me on Insta and view and purchase all the crystals I have available. I also offer personalised gift boxes where customers can tell me a little bit about the person they’re buying for and I can recommend certain crystals that I feel would suit them, creating the perfect gift box. I’m currently working on my website and it should be up and running by the end of this month.”
