Businesses across Urmston are being encouraged to ‘light up their windows’ to make this festive season the brightest that the town has ever seen.
Continuing its commitment to Urmston, the team behind the forthcoming Market41 food hall on Railway Road has launched a sparkling Christmas competition to find the best dressed, decorated and illuminated window front in the town centre.
With the aim of supporting and enhancing the town’s existing Christmas lights, lighting is key to the brief and the brightest and most colourful or sparkling festive illuminations will win £500 to spend on a night out for its employees in January.
Hon Secretary at the Urmston Partnership, David Mackereth commented: “We were delighted to be approached by the McGoff Group with the idea for the Light Up Your Windows competition and would encourage as many local businesses to take part as possible. The addition of more bright and beautiful lights will only improve the town centre experience at Christmas for residents, and it’s a great prize fund for one lucky company to win.”
Any businesses wishing to take part should start to design and decorate their windows as soon as possible, with the aim of having everything in place to coincide with the Christmas lights switch-on events at Queens Road on Friday 15 November and Eden Square on Saturday 16 November.
Paul Danks and Kay Johnson from Market41 will be in Urmston towards the end of the month to choose a winner which will be announced in the first week of December.
Group project manager at the McGoff Group, Kay Johnson, said: “Things are moving along at Market41 and we are delighted to be clearing the site in readiness for making an official start next year. As we can’t have any lights of our own to celebrate this festive season, we thought the next best thing would be to launch a competition to find the brightest store window in Urmston and reward the staff team for making such a great effort with a fantastic night out. Paul and I look forward to judging the entries.”
